Moved house, please bear with me

Postby e_i_pi » Thu Jun 19, 2014 2:08 pm

Bear with me everyone, I just moved house and we haven't got the internet on yet. I'll be deadbeating all my games, and quitting from all the games I'm in that are still recruiting. I expect to have the internet on within about 2 weeks, so until then there won't be any code updates or serious changes to the site.

House move is over and I have the internet connected too woohoo. I have a party this weekend, but I'll be back to coding on Monday, so you can expect to see regular updates from about Wednesday next week.

Where did you move that you didn't have internet for 2 week?

Here in Estonia we have 3G with phones all the time...

What's the issue with internet in Australia?

We are backwards, it takes ages to get internet on because the ISP's have to check that the wire to your home can handle ADSL2. If it can't they offer you ADSL. If that isn't available you need dial-up or satellite.

We were getting the National Broadband Network with everyone getting fibre to the home, but the Liberals got in last election and decided they would only run it to the node, not the home. Subsequently everyone will still have the shifty old copper network running from the node to their home.

That is what's wrong with internet in Australia
