Personal use and Hi res map images

Postby TopazMarauder » Tue Mar 26, 2019 6:25 am

I was thinking of getting a few of these maps printed out to use in physical games with friends. Is this OK with you?
If so, Is there anywhere where I can get hi res images of the maps, cause the ones provided are too small to look good when blown up

The maps were done at the size they are on the website, I wasn't thinking about doing SVG or oversized images at the time. We do have one map that was never released that is a whopping 6000x4000 pixels (compared to The Crusades, which is 2248x1824). I never got around to overlaying borders and things on that one, just did some preliminary work to see how things went. Here is a 709x740 pixel sample from it:

It's original format is at 200dpi I believe, so at 6000x4000 it would com out at 30x20 inches (75x50cm), which isn't very big. Here is a 700x700 pixel sample once I changed it do 100dpi, doubled the size to 12000x8000 pixels, and used the "Preserve Details 2.0" settin in Photoshop, along with noise reduction of around 50%. At this resolution, you could print it out at 120x80 inches (3x2 metres) which would probably be good for a tabletop game, though you do lose a touch of detail:

If you're interested in taking this up, I'm happy to work with you to get something out of it.

Here's that full map shrunk down to 10% size. Send me a private message if you're interested, I get email notifications of those, so I'll guaranteed see your correspondence. I work intense hours now, so I only visit Art of War once a month if that :(
