Tuesday 1st - Thursday 10th
  • Finished graphics for Mini Medieval Europe
  • Split off the browser files for MME
  • Split off the icon files for MME
  • Uploaded all of these files
  • Corrected a very minor bug in the fortification script

Friday 11th
  • Wrote the entire XML for MME
  • Corrected a major bug in the Browse Maps code that prevented the armies from displaying

Saturday 12th
  • Fixed some Javascript bugs that occurred when you visit a game you're not playing in
  • Fixed the Javascript so that you don't have a Deployment option on sea territories
  • Did a few hours investigation into UTF-8 encoding for territory names, unfortunately this is something that will have to wait until the site rewrite to implement properly
  • Discovered why MME isn't working - I haven't finished the XML that joins all the territories together :blush:
  • Fixed a critical bug in the Javascript, meaning you couldn't commit actions once you were down to one territory
  • Fixed a critical bug in the deplyoment code, that prevented you from deploying once you were down to one territory

Sunday 13th
  • Fixed multiple issues in the Attack and Fortification code, as well as territory capture
  • Some minor work on the borders XML for MME
  • Implemented Sea territory capture, complete with drowning all troops that were on the enemies boats
  • Rewrote the Combat XML file to include 4 border types: Land, Coastal, Sea, and Beach. This has now enabled MME for playtesting
  • Refactored some Javascript code that determined battle types available
  • Refactored some server-side code that determined battle types available, as well as fix some minor bugs/convolution in the capture code

Monday 14th
  • Fixed a minor bug in the Fortify display script
  • New Highlight, Source, and Target icons for all icon types
  • Updated the map XML for MME
  • Updated the border XML for Mini Europe, World, and MME
  • Updated the settings XML for all scenarios
  • Updated the code to reflect the new dynamic icon types
  • Fixed an error in the game_info BB Code
  • Released Mini Medieval Europe for playtesting

Tuesday 15th
  • Fixed a critical bug that was affecting all random deployment games that commenced
  • Implemented some code that deletes games that haven't got any players within a 24 hour period
  • Partitioned the combat XML to reduce load times during games
  • Fixed a bug that prevented coastal attacks in Ancient Era (came out of the new code)
  • Fixed a transaction error bug that was causing problems in the odd game
  • Removed some debugging script that had somehow found it's way to the live site
  • Updated the Mini Europe map with nicer graphics

Wednesday 16th
  • Updated all the army numeral files so that they are now the icons of the troop type rather than simply circles
  • Updated the home page screenshots
  • Cleaned up and rationalised the map imagery and XML
  • Mini Europe is now Ancient Europe
  • Mini Medieval Europe is now Medieval Europe
  • Medieval Europe is now Medieval Europe Extended
  • World Map is now World
  • Updated the continent colours in Ancient Europe to reflect the colours on the map
  • Made a few minor changes to the keywords and description to help boost Google rank
  • Coded up some admin tools so I can quickly monitor site stats, such a regular users

Thursday 17th
  • Corrected an issue with site tracking (forums weren't being tracked doh)
  • Added a "Nearly Filled" game button to the Games page, which picks up all recruiting games that are >=50% filled
  • Tweaked the ad campaign to be more aggressive

Friday 18th
  • Submitted the site to about 400 directories

Saturday 19th
  • Fixed a non-intrusive bug that occurred when the Random player owned an entire continent
  • Continued submitting the site to directories, about another 200
  • Created banner ads for the site, and implemented them in the advertising campaign

Sunday 20th - R&R
  • Ported the offline Sun site to the online Sun site
  • Fixed an issue with the forums on Sun site that had been vexing me for about 2 months
  • Fixed a typo in the website description that would had been holding back the Google rank

Monday 21st
  • Fixed a minor bug in the turn ticking algorithm
  • Fixed a major bug in the Cede territory function
  • Hacked in the News Module from the Sun site, to allow far more news items at once on the front page
  • Fixed up a lot of minor issues with the CSS on the Sun site
  • Fixed a few small issues with the HTML on the Sun site
  • Finished the border image for Eurasia
  • Commenced the territory names for Eurasia

Tuesday 22nd - Thursday 24th
  • Some work on Eurasia map
  • A lot of research into MVC and OOP for the site rewrite

Friday 25th
  • Fixed a critical bug that brought down the site for 12 hours
  • Streamlined the turn ticking algorithm for faster ticks
  • Fixed a bug that meant missed turns when you have 1 territory prevented autodeployments

Saturday 26th - R&R

Sunday 27th
  • Fixed a bug in Medieval Era combat that prevented any battle types being available if you had infantry vs infantry & cavalry. Now "Chase Cavalry" is available, with infantry being able to assist for the defender

Monday 28th - Tuesday 29th
  • Started working on the base classes for the code rewrite

Wednesday 30th - Thursday 31st - Busy working

Friday 1st
  • Fixed a couple of minor errors in the combat code for Classical and Medieval (navy wasn't being reserved in sea battles)

Saturday 2nd - Sunday 10th
  • Entered negotiations with another coder to assist with the project
  • Fair amount of work on Eurasia map continent graphics
  • More investigations into moving to an OOP MVC framework from the existing new framework on Sun
  • Minor fix to Siege battle type in Medieval Era. Defender should have been able to defend with up to two forts, but it was only allowing one
  • Revamped the advertising campaign to get more quality traffic coming to the site, which seems to have worked. The amount of quality traffic has doubled in the past week, and we're now starting to get a fair few organic Google results.

Monday 11th - Monday 18th
  • Commenced the new architecture site sunztu, which will house all the new code
  • Entered business negotiations with aforementioned coder, to code on the site and also move the site to an iPhone App, possibly under a 3D interface

Tuesday 19th - Wednesday 20th
  • Laid down the foundation code for the new OOP architecture on suntzu, configured the forums so that they coalign with the new architecture

Thursday 21st - R&R

Friday 22nd
  • Established new naming conventions

Saturday 23rd
  • Refactored and rationalised the base code for better inheritence

Sunday 24th
  • Further rationalising to accomodate control functionality within base classes
  • Worked on the window expander as the first control. Window Expander now slides the window up and down rather than jump it around

Monday 25th
  • Created generic menu classes, which look fantastic

Tuesday 26th - Thursday 28th
  • Managed to implement dynamic scripts on the new site, which will cut script downloading times by a sizeable amount
  • Remedied all known issues on the new site
  • Removed an unwanted footprint that the new site architecture had made on phpBB

Friday 29th - Sunday May 1st - R&R

Sunday 1st - R&R

Monday 2nd
  • Created the first PDO class and tested it out, all working perfectly
  • Migrated all the AOW tables to their own database

Tuesday 3rd - Friday 6th - Busy working

Saturday 7th
  • Migrated the AoW Users table over to the new database, which was previously intertwined with phpBB
  • Fixed some CSS errors with the menu system
  • Located the root cause of a critical error with the new architecture, and defused the error. Error is yet to be fully fixed
  • Wrote instruction pages for some admin functions
  • Ported over country code allocation script

Sunday 8th
  • Added and refined a few classes in the CSS
  • Ported over the sidebar menu for Admin SQL Definitions Tools

Monday 9th - Friday 20th - Busy working, resigned from current job, taking about 6-8 weeks holidays

Saturday 21st
  • Dumped Sun site down to the localhost
  • Configured the localhost to run pefectly whilst offline

Sunday 22nd - Saturday 28th
  • Formalised coding conventions for the site
  • Changed all the code on the offline site so that it adheres to the new coding conventions
  • Performed a fair amount of code crunch on a crucial component of the offline site

Sunday 29th - Tuesday 31st
  • Further work on porting over the code from the old Sun site
  • Further code crunch to base classes
  • Did a test run of moving the files en masse fro Production (offline sun) to Live (online Sun). Works perfectly with no hiccups, which is better than the old code porting which took 30-60 minutes per port
  • Refined some configuration options to allow smooth sailing between Production and Live
